The recent earthquake in April, has revealed the most unexpected in Nepal. The “living goddess” Dhana Kumari Bajracharya has done the unimaginable by the commoners; she has taken to streets for the first time. Previously it was only during the rituals that she was brought in public space. As the Patan kumari she was expected to remain indoors. She was enthroned as a 2 year old kid and remained so for three decades.  

The earthquake was one of the most devastating natural calamities of our times. During the frightening earthquake her five storey building too shook; shook their conscience. The family did not know what to do in those moments of devastation as were bound by traditions and customs of the land.  

Approaching possibility of losing own lives changed it all! She along with her family did not have any option other than walking out to save their own lives. Interestingly, if family members are to be believed, it was predicted a year ago that she will leave her house. Then no body imagined it will all happen in the midst of such a devastating earthquake. God knows it all!
